I came to this place at least 10 Years ago and the bartender gave a lesson on how to prepare and eat Oysters. I have done it the same way since and even take my saltines to places if I know they don't have them. So happy to be back

YUM. Really lovely staff -- warm and friendly as I've come to appreciate in NOLA. The food was fantastic and there were great options for kids (not formally listed on the menu, but they could do pasta, tenders, and burgers) and of course the adults. The vibe was chill, low-key, and pleasant. Absolutely would come back!

We stopped by Mr. Ed's for lunch while in NOLA. Our server, Lee was fabulous. He suggested All his favorites. We loved the red fish which was served with sautéed vegetables and a side of jambalaya. Really tasty! Can't wait to visit again next time we are in town to try some more of their yummy menu items!!

Mr Ed's is much better than the previous Cajun restaurant I reviewed. It's more toned down, a lot smaller, and a few blocks away from the outside commotion. The oysters were more generous and the blackened chicken salad was well made. Had a nice conversation with our server about him moving to DC and the weather in Chicago. It's nice that you can actually speak at a normal volume.

QUICKIE REVIEW Good food had here with generous amount of AC. FOOD This is what I tried: -Hurricane -Taste of New Orleans -Raw oysters Of all the restaurants I went to on this trip, this one was the best. Good dining experience and food had flavor. Drinks were also stiff. Calling that a win win. PARKING No SERVICE Good, waiter took care of us in a timely manner. Plus they had immediate seating. PRICE You can expect around $70 for two. TIP/OTHER THOUGHTS You could hear the AC blasting as soon as you walked in. This is definitely a restaurant to beat the heat and humidity at.

Never done this before, but it's a perfect place to dine! My husband I were at Lafittes having drinks, ran into Mike The Shucker! Had about 7 couples just raving about Mr Ed's. Guy is a great communicator! Convinced 8 of us to try it out! We went and the place was just as he explained!! Great food! Great waitress Gina, just love her! But Mike, I have never heard an employee talk so Great about everyone from the GM, managers, servers, kitchen help and bartenders. Most employees always have someone they don't get along with. This guy has great admiration for everyone he works with. He is the guy I would want working for me. Mike, you are smarter and better than the average shucker!! You have missed your calling however, you meet everyone that comes in with a warm smile and a kind hello! You were so fun to be around! We all met back at Lafitts and we all had the same story! Mike, you were well spoken of by all and we all enjoyed the food and great atmosphere!! WE WILL BE BACK!!!

The plan was to eat somewhere else. But that plan fell through when Big Bro learned many Yelpers weren't to thrilled about that place. So after a quick search, he decided this place might be better. (And we were only a few blocks away.) So after a teenee bit of a walk, here we were! Party of four. We kinda had been snacking all day, but we didn't want to let the day pass without having oysters. (Side note: Big Bro and Mom said their goal is to have oysters everyday we were in NOLA.) We were seated and given menus immediately although it was poppin' - pretty good for a midweek dine in. ICED RAW OYSTERS: Shucked fresh, with very minimal leftover shells (they were there, but not a lot.) I liked that there was broth on some of them which made the experience better. We all liked it! CHARBROILED OYSTERS: Warning: give it a minute or two to cool down because these are served off the broiler. Served with a loaf of bread topped with melted butter and parmesan, oysters were packed with so much flavor. A bit on the salty side but nothing the lemon or bread can tame (that's what they're there for!) Bread was also a good have to absorve the melted butter goodness on the bottom of the plate. LOUISINA CRAWFISH BREAD: To be honest, I have NEVER heard of such a thing, I had to have it! It's a small French bread look-alike bread topped with crawfish and all sorts of seasoning and sidekicks. There was plenty of crawfish to cover each bite. Melted cheese wasn't overpowering. The whole thing is seasoned well. Definitely a good first run! My party had the seafood as well as chicken and andouille gumbo. I didn't get to try either one, but from the looks of their empty bowls, it's safe to assume they liked it. FOOD: 5. We liked everything. SERVICE: 4. Friendly staff. Service with a smile is always a plus! VALUE: 3.5. More than fair for what we got. PARKING: Street. Someone mentioned a parking lot but I'm not sure. Might wanna check on that if you on driving through. OVERALL: 4.25. So, yeah. Big Bro's calling an audible paid off. Definitely recommending.
